Theodore "Ted" Rubin
Theodore Rubin was a founding member of the Guild of Oenopholists – the group that created the Boston Wine Expo – as well as a member of the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs and Ordre de Mondial. In addition, he was a past Master of the Everett C Benton Lodge. Ted received the Purveyor Executive of the Year 1994 from the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, the Greater Boston Association of Retarded Citizens (GBARC) Man Of The Year in 2002 and the Israel Freedom Award in 2004. Ted's many charitable endeavors included the Jimmy Fund, Genesis Fund and the Italian Home for Children to name a few. Ted was an avid golfer who won a record thirteen club championships and twelve ‘father and son’ titles while a member of Spring Valley Country Club before joining Blue Hills Country Club and Pine Brook Country Club in Massachusetts, as well as Trump International and Mirasol in Florida. Ted was an icon in the Massachusetts Wine and Spirits industry. His personal charm, business savvy and sense of family established the culture that exists at Ruby Wines today.
Ted passed away in 2009 after a battle with leukemia. His legacy lives on with a golf tournament in his name, “The Ted,” which has raised over $750,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
Robert is a member of the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs. He served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Restaurant Association for three terms and was a founding member of the Anthony Spinazzola Foundation.
Among his many awards and recognitions, Robert received the Israel Freedom Award in 2004, Greater Boston Association of Retarded Citizens (GBARC) Man of the Year in 2002, and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association's Purveyor Executive of the Year in 1994.
Outside of work, Robert is an avid golfer. He is currently a member of Pinebrook Country Club in Weston, MA and Banyan Golf Club in Florida, where he serves on The Board of Directors and as Golf Chairman. He is also a former member of The National Ski Patrol and skied on Stratton Mountain's Ski Patrol for several years.
Robert enjoys traveling for both work and pleasure. When he's not traveling to wine country, he can often be found enjoying island life, from Nantucket to St. Tropez, with a glass of Rose (or – blasphemy – a vodka on the rocks) in hand.
Robert's daughter, Jaime, has recently joined the ranks as one of the fourth generation of Rubins in the family-owned and operated company.
Senior Vice President, Director of Sales
Brad represents the fourth generation of Ruby Wines ownership. He joined his father Ted and his uncle Bob in the family business in 1992 after graduating from Boston University, where he studied Business Management and was a goalkeeper on their Nationally Ranked soccer team. Brad’s introduction to the industry was working the harvest at Iron Horse Vineyards in 1992, where he observed firsthand all aspects of wine-making. Brad continued learning all facets of the business by working in the warehouse while in college, becoming a salesperson and then a sales manager, all of which led to his current role as Senior Vice President – Director of Sales. In his spare time, Brad is an avid golfer and likes to travel. Brad and his wife Anne can often be found in hockey rinks watching their boys play.
The Fifth Generation – Brad’s three sons, Kyle, Cameron and Tyler – are waiting in the wings.
Executive Vice President, General Manager
Wayne Niemi joined Ruby Wines in 1988 bringing an extensive knowledge of the Wine & Spirits Industry from both the supplier and wholesaler sides of the business. Wayne is a member of the Guild of Oenopholists – the group that created the Boston Wine Expo – and co-chairs all of Ruby’s charitable participations. Outside of the industry, Wayne is an active member of The National Ski Patrol.
Vice President Retail & Chain Accounts
Bill Browne is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, His passion and expertise in food and wine have contributing to Ruby Wines since 1994. Bill oversees retail and chain account business: a position he achieved after six years as a Ruby Wines sales professional and five years managing the greater Boston and western Massachusetts sales divisions. His constant drive and solid relationships with other industry professionals is a proven asset to the company.
Vice President, Portfolio Management
David has over twenty years of industry experience, which includes working for distributors and suppliers and owning his own wholesale company. His leadership will lend to and maximize Ruby's success with its supplier partners.
Vice President, Spirits
John Pettine is a valued addition to the Ruby management team with over thirty years of industry experience. Most recently, he was employed by the Rodney Strong Winery as District Sales Manager and previously held the position of Vice President of Beverage Operations for the Back Bay Restaurant Group that owns and operates numerous restaurants throughout the Northeast. John is also an active committee member of the Walpole Country Club and a former member of the Board of Directors with the Italian Home for Children, as well as a former member of the Savastano Scholarship Committee at URI.
Vice President, Retail Chains
Scott McAdams joined the Ruby team in 1999 as a sales representative. His passion for the business and key account success have resulted in promotions to Division Manager and to his current title, Vice President of National Accounts. Scott has a strong business acumen that will bring energy to the chain segment of the company.
Vice President of On Premise Sales
Domenic Giammarco, Ruby Wines. (Vice President of On Premise Sales). Domenicbrings over 15 years of restaurant operations management, distributor sales and (most recently) Palm Bay International supplier experience to the Ruby Wines organization. His focus on the Fine Wine portfolio and estates from all around the globe, combined with the many strong relationships which he has forged with key restaurant owners and beverage program directors position him well to oversee and grow the On-Premise Sales channel at Ruby Wines throughout Massachusetts. Domenic is an avid recreational cyclist, and is a veteran member of Team Ruby Wines cycling group which participates annually in the Pan Mass Challenge fundraising ride contributing to cancer research and care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Jimmy Fund centers.
